Lovable Dalmatian!

Happy Wednesday !

For today’s illustration, I am going to continue with another dog character. Today is all about Dalmatian. How could you not love this lovely large sized white dogs? Dalmatians gets its name from the place where the first illustrations were found. Dalmatia was situated on the eastern coast of Adriatic Sea (modern day Croatia).

Dalmatians have lots of unique spots on their body as well as insides their mouth. They could either have brown, blue or grey eyes. Their stocky body and strong muscles helps the dog to run with ease. They also have high taping ears to the tip.

Interestingly, Dalmatian was one of the first breeds that the former United States President, George Washington bred himself. Ancient pictures and paintings in England depicted Dalmatians as coaching dogs where the dogs would accompany people who rode in coaches to protect horses and travellers from any danger. Inspired by this, I decided to draw my character wearing a coachman coat. I completed the illustration mostly in inks. Hope you guys like it.

When I am not illustrating, I will be in the Art Gallery looking for inspiration. I also volunteer at the National Gallery of Ireland. I also enjoy cooking as well as good delicious foods and wine. I do love good long nature walks.
