Meet Marmy, Gurdy’s best friend!

For this picture book project, I have also concluded on Gurdy’s best friend which is Marmy. This is the final draft of the character. Marmy is a Marmot who lives in the Alps mountain. Marmy is round, furry and fat.He loves eating and his favourite food is cakes, lots of it. Marmy is wearing his favourite jumper. He is also very loud, hyper and talks a lot. His greatest wish is to find a new friend and finally when he meets Gurdy, he is over the moon with joy.

I really enjoyed the process of creating Marmy. After doing a bit of research about Marmot and their characteristics, I came up with a few ideas. I illustrated several sketches and finally I think this is the one that warms to my heart. I can’t wait to continue with the rest of the illustrations and story !

When I am not illustrating, I will be in the Art Gallery looking for inspiration. I also volunteer at the National Gallery of Ireland. I also enjoy cooking as well as good delicious foods and wine. I do love good long nature walks.
