Illustrating a Superhero fantasy character for a story.

Hello readers! It is April and hope that you’ve enjoyed the Easter break.

This is another project that I am currently working with Fighting Words, a collaboration of collected stories by local schools in the North Inner Dublin city. The stories will also reflect on a interesting focal point of the area. This particular story is from 1st class St. Vincent Boys Primary in Glasnevin. Their story is about a Superhero, Jack who can become invisible, has webs and has electricity. In this particular scene, Jack is trying to save a guy who is trying to get away from a shark whilst swimming in a canal. Behind the scene is the focal point of the area which is the historic Glasnevin cemetery. I am looking forward to the next workshop with the continuation of this story with a different school.

In creating the character Jack, I am inspired by the spider’s big bug eyes and fury head. Jack is also part human and part spider with tentacles. Jack is wearing a yellow and black body suit.

When I am not illustrating, I will be in the Art Gallery looking for inspiration. I also volunteer at the National Gallery of Ireland. I also enjoy cooking as well as good delicious foods and wine. I do love good long nature walks.
