Illustrating an evil character- Story Seeds Project with Fighting Words

Continuing with the previous story of Super Jack, the next chapter of the story was created by primary school kids from O’Connell’s National School, North Circular Road. The story is set around their school and surrounding areas. What excites me when illustrating this story is when they brought in another character which is an evil Octopus trying to run amok and taking away all the colours in their school as well as stealing all their toys. Thinking about the character, I have this idea in my mind about the Octopus’s tentacles where there are lots of evil eyes. Using bold primary colours I tried to capture the drama in some of the scenes.

This is a quick rough sketch ideas that I have during the workshop in order to show all the kids in the classroom.

This is the initial details of the sketch where Superhero Jack is trying to catch the evil Octopus. At the back is the Croke Park stadium which is near to O’Connell’s National School.

When I am not illustrating, I will be in the Art Gallery looking for inspiration. I also volunteer at the National Gallery of Ireland. I also enjoy cooking as well as good delicious foods and wine. I do love good long nature walks.
