Story Seeds Project with Fighting Words

The story about the adventures of Super Jack continues. The next chapter of the story was written by a group of 3rd & 4th class primary school children from St. Vincent GNS National School. They created another fantastic storyline when a large orange bird wearing a black mask came and pick up one of the girls from the school when they were playing in the schoolyard.

The inspiration for the illustration of the bird came from my cultural association with a mythical bird from Indonesia and Malaysia. The bird is called Garuda and depicted in Hindu mythological scenes. In Hindu mythology, the bird is the vahana – mode of transportation (mount) of the god Vishnu.

I tried to experiment with different drawing processes. I did the initial drawing with ink pens. Then I colour the bird only using inks. After uploading it to my Ipad, The rest of the drawing is then completed digitally using apple in Autosketch.

When I am not illustrating, I will be in the Art Gallery looking for inspiration. I also volunteer at the National Gallery of Ireland. I also enjoy cooking as well as good delicious foods and wine. I do love good long nature walks.
